PD Trip

After weeks of waiting, we finally get to spend our free hotel stay voucher..just one week before it's expiry date. In view of our busy schedule, our holiday getaway had to be postponed numerous times. With the limited number of mutual free days that we had, the task was made more difficult as Corus Paradise Hotel seemed to be fully booked on most days. As we are only entitled to use the voucher on a weekday, we decided to head to PD on a Sunday..At least I get to save my leave..

We gave Aniq a bottle of milk just before we left and he slept the whole way...Good boy!

After putting our luggage in the room, we decided not to waste any time and headed straight to the nearby stalls to look for Durian. A must-stop everytime we visit PD.

We decided that it was time that Aniq had his first taste of Durian. He just took it in and did not even make a face. That's my boy!

We then headed back to the hotel and decided that the weather was just nice for us to spend some time by the beach. The great thing about Corus Paradise Hotel is that it has a private beach, and a small cove. At the time that we went, we were the only ones by the beach..so tak payah la nak kena control2 sangat..

First time touching sand....

Another thing that we had planned to do was to make sandcastles by the beach. I bought a sandcastle making set from Penang, and I was excited to try it. Aniq was too young to appreciate it, but he did have fun playing with the spade and banging the utensils together...

We wanted to sit in the shade, so my husband had to make more then ten trips to the beach side just to get wet sand for us to build sandcastles. Haha. parents pulak yang seronok.

As Aniq was still all excited, we decided to bring him for a swim in the pool. After washing off all the sand, we wore him his new pair of swimming outfit and Splash!

We didn't spend so long in the pool, coz he had a fever after his first swim a few months ago..Didn't want history to repeat itself..

We had early dinner that day, and after feeding Aniq with porridge and a bottle of milk he immediately slept..He must have been so exhausted..At least, Husband and I get to spend some time on our own at dinnertime..

At Barakah Seafood Restaurant. Fast service and excellent food.

The following day we spent most of the time in the room since we have done everything on the first day...

While having breakfast that morning...

Ocean view from our room

It was a truly wonderful holiday..A chance to spend quality time together and it was also fun taking care of our baby on our own without any help from the maid..:)

Thank u NST and Corus Paradise Hotel, for our partially sponsored holiday!

Aniq's first debut

I was over the moon on Thursday coz I won the Best Holiday competition organized by Travel Times NST. Not only that, the photo was featured in the newspaper that day and we won a one night's stay at Corus Paradise, Port Dickson! Well, if given a choice, I would definitely prefer a much better hotels like Avillion, Legend or Thistle, but since I won a free holiday and a chance to travel again with my family, I am not going to complain!

My son is so lucky to be in the papers at such a young age. Something exciting to tell him once he's older.

Looking forward to our next family trip!

Omar's Home!

This picture was taken before he left for UK a few months back. He pretty much still looks the same now, except that his hair has grown a few inches thicker..Owh ya, and he appears much thinner now too! Although he prefers the word 'fitter'..I have to disagree on this one coz I really can't appreciate the six packs that he claims he has!
Even though I won't be seeing my lil brother everyday, am just happy that my family feels more 'complete' now..It's great to have u around, omar!

Kids and technology

Kids just continue to surprise me.

Being a 1980's baby, at the age of 10, I remember myself watching cartoons such as Carebears, My Little Pony and Jem. The computer was something new to us, when it was about using floppy discs and there was no such thing as Windows.

Primary school kids now are capable of chatting, emailing and blogging.

A very sad day has just passed...

A very sad day has just passed...
Being a medical professional, death is not something foreign to us. We see gravely ill patients day in and day out, try our best to resuscitate them whenever necessary, inform the family members at the right time and later pronounce them dead, while keeping a straight face and maintain our professionalism. The family members will cry their eyes out upon hearing the news, whilst we, need to remain calm.
However, despite being a medical doctor, dealing with death of a our own close family member is a whole different ball game.
Funny..I received the news about the death of my great grandmother three years back, and today, my grandmother's death..Both in which I was at Selayang Hospital attending a course..
Funny..when I missed both my paternal and maternal grandmother's funeral..
Funny..I have not shed a tear since the I was told that my grandmother passed away at 1410 yesterday..
Al-Fatihah to dearest Opah..

D.I.L

How much do you trust your gut feeling?
About 2 weeks back I had this strange feeling just before going to work. Like something bad was going to happen that day. While walking to work from my apartment, I suddenly decided to give my mum a call. It was 0750 in the morning. I've never called her at that hour but I did anyway without any specific reason. Mum was awake at that time and I told her about my feeling. Surprisingly she said that she was having difficulty in sleeping that night and she has been awake for the past 2 hours, thinking whether she should cancel her trip to UK on the 11th of this month. (to attend my cousin's wedding in London.) She had a feeling that she should not go. And so I told her to decide whatever that makes her happy and she cancelled her flight on that day.
Two days ago Mum gave me a shocking news that she discovered my grandma having difficulty in breathing while visiting her that day. And so she brought my grandma straight to the hospital and she was later admitted to CCU for Heart Failure. Deep inside I was thinking, "Thank God Mum didn't go to UK..Otherwise, nobody would have discovered that Opah was very sick.."
At this moment Opah is still in CCU, ventilated but haemodynamically stable. I managed to visit her while she was still conscious on Saturday, the day before she was transferred to the intensive unit. I really didn't realise that she would deteriorate so sudden and so badly..
I was driving to work today morning and my mind went adrift. Many questions popped into my brain. 'Did I spend enough time with her? Did I ever do anything wrong that might have hurt her feelings? Will I ever have the chance to speak to her ever again?'
Not only that, I was also imagining how I could handle if my own parents were as sick her. Being the eldest and a health professional, I have to be responsible for my parents' well being..If any one of my parent were to be in ill health, I need to ensure that they receive the best possible care and inform our relatives accordingly..
I hope that Opah is not suffering from any pain now..I pray hard that God will decide what's best for her..
